L'adulte a un corps cylindrique de 0,150 sur 0,038 mm, blanc laiteux, prosome triangulaire, opisthosome marqué de 60 à 70 stries annulaires. Rostre et pattes courts.
Biologie
- Plante-hôte: Prunier.
- Les larves colonisent la base des pousses de l'année et piquent les tissus cicatriciels correspondant aux bases d'insertions des écailles des bourgeons.
Cycle de vie
Une seule génération annuelle. Les sexués hivernent dans les galles formées à la base des rameaux de l'année.
Dégâts
Les piqûres des larves provoquent la formation de petites galles sphériques, lisses, uni ou pluriloculaires, plus ou moins fermées et dont les parois s'épaississent. Lorsque les pousses florifères sont attaquées leur croissance est perturbée et les fleurs avortent.
