Colydiidae est une sous - famille de coléoptères , communément appelés scolytes cylindriques. Ils ont été traités historiquement comme une famille de Colydiidae, mais ont été déplacés dans les Zopheridae , où ils constituent la majeure partie de la diversité de la famille nouvellement élargie, avec environ 140 genres dans le monde entier. Ils sont divers par exemple dans la région australienne , d'où environ 35 genres sont connus; en Europe , cependant, seulement 20 genres sont trouvés et beaucoup d'entre eux seulement avec peu d' espèces .
On sait peu de choses sur la biologie de ces coléoptères. La plupart se nourrissent de champignons , d'autres sont carnivores et mangent de petits arthropodes tels que les scolytes .
Systématique et taxonomie
Jusqu'à 9 tribus sont acceptées par divers auteurs; d'autres, cependant, synonymisent certains d'entre eux. Autrefois, beaucoup de tribus additionnelles étaient reconnues, mais les Synchitini , par exemple, sont aujourd'hui généralement considérées comme incluant un certain nombre de ces tribus, et sont même parfois fusionnées avec les Colydiini .
